Holiday Gift Guide for the "More-Than-A-Black-Square" Shopper

So you want to put your money where your mouth is? That’s wonderful! I’m here to help!

I’m excited to share my holiday gift guide, specifically created for the conscious shopper. My goal this year was to purchase gifts that were either from local Bay Area small businesses, BIPOC small businesses around the US, or gifts whose proceeds benefited charities or causes I follow and support. Gift giving is one of my most dominant expressions of love and appreciation and it’s always very important for me to give meaningful and personal gifts for Christmas and birthdays. Challenging myself to shop in reflection of my values was actually way easier than I anticipated it would be and the variety of gifts I was able to purchase really excited me. I’ll save you the rant about how shopping small not only saves the planet but also supports real life humans and not corporations and say that it was a pretty eye opening experience vetting out each business before I purchased an item. One major suggestion I have for anyone desiring to shop more consciously is to actually read the “About Us” section of each business’s website. Riveting information on those things - let me tell you!

Since most of these are actual gifts I’ve purchased for friends and family members this year.. friends and family.. get off this blog now! No spoilers. (That means you mom!)

(I must add a disclaimer that 1 of these items wasn’t from a small or BIPOC owned business BUT it’s such a great keep-sake I had to include it here).
